November 2016 President's Message

Dear Members:

This will likely be my final presidential letter and I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continual support. I also encourage you to join me and make a donation to the Charles Cuttler Fund, which helps us subsidize travel for graduate students. Make your contributions when renewing your Membership or becoming a first-time Member. Even a small gift can make a significant difference.

I also want to alert you to the forthcoming MAHS Annual Conference in Cleveland on April 6–8, 2017, which promises to be a fantastic event, and remind you, when conference registration becomes available in December, to sign up for the bus to Oberlin College if you will need transportation to the Allen Memorial Art Museum. The conference is hosted by the Cleveland Museum of Art and Case Western Reserve University. If you are going to the annual CAA conference in New York, you are invited to attend the MAHS affiliated society session devoted to Icons of the Midwest. This year’s session will focus on Watanabe Kazan’s Portrait of Ozora Buzaemon (1827), a Japanese hanging scroll housed in the Cleveland Museum of Art, the site of our forthcoming conference.

Appreciatively,
Henry Luttikuizen
MAHS President
